Who in the Hell Left the Gate Open?- Ward Connerly Edition
March 26, 2008Ward “Yes Massah” Connerly is at it again. This time he’s using the achievements of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as a platform for the ending of affirmative action. He believes that The fact that a black person and a woman are serious contenders for the highest office in the land means that we’re over race no longer need it to ensure diversity in schools or the workplace.
Ward Connerly is a complete anomaly to me. He’s a wealthy old Republican.. He grew up in Louisiana during segregation: he was abandoned by his father at age two and his mother died when he was four. He moved to California with his aunt and Grandmother and managed to become a major success but most accounts. But Ward Connerly is the perfect example of a person filled with self hatred. Mr. Connerly is a Black man whether he wants to be or not.(He only claims to be ¼ black, but his little cocoa colored face keeps giving him away.) He vehemently denies the resistance of racism in this country and is repulsed by the idea, that affirmative action may have assisted him in his academic an professional career, he’s married to a white woman, he’s a member of a historically white fraternity and just all around seems to disassociate himself with anything African-American. He’s kissed so much white booty that his lips should look like a crack head’s. I truly believe that his own self hatred is what’s clouding up his interpretation of affirmative action.
Many would have us to believe that Affirmative Action is keeping qualified whites and males out of schools and jobs. The purpose of affirmative action is to insure that qualified people DON’T get shut out of jobs based on their culture, or gender. Whether or not a person is has real intentions to discriminate, we humans have a tendency to be around people we already know, or feel connected to. We tend to self segregate. So if I as a black woman owned a business and only hired black women, wouldn’t it look a little discriminatory? Even if I claimed to have nothing against qualified men or people of other cultures, would you really believe that only the black and female candidates were the best ones for the job? And yet Ward Connerly and his brood expect women and minorities to believe that that just doesn’t happen anymore and that no matter what it’s just the right person for the job.
Well that just not true. The old boys club is alive and well, we still have people suing because of discrimination. Blacks and Latinos stuck in the stock rooms, female executives forced to go to strip clubs and cigar nights to stay “abreast” on office politics, women getting paid less than their male counterparts and yet Ward Connerly believes that our society is so evolved that we no longer need Affirmative Action?!
And to use Hillary and Barack as proof is ridiculous on so many levels. People still hold negative and discriminatory views towards both of them. A simple Google search on the internet will expose a ton of disparaging remarks about both candidates based on his race and her gender, and Ward Connerly really thinks that people no longer need affirmative action. Come On! The discrimination of this era is covert but it’s certainly still there.
Get you head out of the sand and realize that, Ward! If it weren’t for Affirmative Action you’d probably be driving the bus somewhere.

Interesting. Perhaps Connerly should consider external bleaching to match his internal racial make-up.
?
Pen4Me,
Holy cow, external bleaching to match his internal racial make-up?? You dirty racist. That is what Connerly is against. Why do you hate him? Because he is rich. Because he wants to see other black people get rich? What is wrong with being rich? I just don’t get it.
I understand that you are a black woman, but to say that Connerly would be driving a bus somewhere if it weren’t for AA is just wrong, also. This is obviously an intelligent, driven, ambitious man that would be able to succeed without any outside help or government handouts.
What’s wrong with a black man being a Republican?
My friend on Orkut shared this link with me and I’m not dissapointed at all that I came here.
