Another Levert death!

In Entertainment news, I’m really sad to say that Eddie Levert, Lead Singer of the famed O’Jays and father to the Late Great Gerald Levert has lost another son. Sean Levert died in an Ohio jail early this morning. The younger Levert was serving time for failing to pay $80,000 in Child’s support. MY condolences go out to the Levert family, particularly Mr. Eddie Levert and his wife. I cannot imagine how hard it must be to bury two of your sons within tow years of each other, and worst of all in the midst of this child support situation. My prayers will be with them.

Sean was 39 years old. apparently he’d complained to guards about being sick. more information will be posted

Apparently Sean had an existing high blood pressure problem and a few other health problems. According to the BBC
Jail warden Kevin McDonough said that Levert had been sick and guards monitored him because he was acting strangely.
Levert had pleaded guilty to failing to pay $89,025 (£45,085) in child support payments.
He was sentenced by Judge Nancy Margaret Russo who said on Monday that he had given no indication of any health problems.
She said court reports indicated he had been addicted to marijuana from the age of 14 until recently.
His brother Gerald, a fellow member of LeVert, died in 2006 after taking prescription drugs.
The official cause of death was acute intoxication and ruled to be accidental.
Toxicology reports could take four to six weeks

It broke my heart to hear of the passing of Shawn Levert. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Levert family. Be strong and trust in the LORD during this very difficult time. It is through the LORD we gain our strenght.
I do not know why, but it seems the very talented are always plagued by trial and tribulation. Those who bring sun shine suffer great, great pain.

My prayers go out to the Levert Family. My heart is heavy. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not cure.
It seems that “our” government is criminalizing stuff which used to be a moral issue and black and poor people are suffering from the fact. Now the father is dead so who going to pay the child support now. The government!
nevermind the situation of why Sean was in jail the fact of the matter is that the man lost his life serving time in a jail that most likely ignored his complaints of being ill they should be held accountable for his death but unfortuanatly in the world we like in its not likely Its a sad time for the Levert family God be with u all…
I was so sad to hear on the radio that Sean had passed away and ow easy was it for them to tell why he was in jail we care but we don’t care it is a tragedy to the music world. I was really looking forward to hearing the new CD that he was finishing with some of the tracks from his brother. Also i want to send my deepest SYMPATHY to his family and extended family with much Love for them and all the music that the family has made for us to listen too. Keep your head up to the sky that is where they are looking down on you and me.

it’ a sad moment of crying for us
In an interview, I heard Eddie Levert speak of his son Gerald and how the singing and popularity of the Leverts was passed from on generation to the next. What a wonderful sentiment, father to son. The O’jays, especially Eddie Levert will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the entire LEVERT FAMILY.

I am so sorry to hear about another Levert family member passing. I enjoyed seeing the family sing together and they had so much talent. May god bless the Levert family and help heal this family in their time of sorrow.

That mug shot is literally his most recenet picture, I posted this at 8 am and many other sites didn’t have any pictures up other than old ones and mug shots ( the picture at the top is from his myspace and aas you can tell it’s really small). It’s not a crazy looking or unflattering picture (like James Brown’s old Mug shot) it is simply just a picture of him.
To the family of Sean Levert, my deepest sympathy and prayers go out to you and I pray that God will keep you and give you strength during this time. And to anyone reading this, you know that the first thing that the media will include in their reports will be about the child support issue, but remember that “Child Support” is not just about money but about how much time a parent spends with their child or children, and that was something Sean did a great deal of. It broke my heart to hear such sad news. I pray this family can make it through this horrible thing we know as death. We are leaving here so young with so much life ahead of us. We must live life to the fullest, love one another, we need to stop all the judging of one another, help each other with these children who most definately need a village this day and age to raise them. Died in jail for debts for not paying child support??? What was the purpose of putting this man in prison??? To teach him a lesson? To prevent him from earning income? Isnt it sufficient to put liens on his possessions and garnish his income?? They put him in Jail??? Hallucinating - losing his mind? They killed him plain and simple!!! Let me tell you I am a white man who owes twice that amount.
