Do you Remember the Dream of Dr. King?- the 40th anniversary of the death of MLK
April 3, 2008This Friday April 4th marks the 40th anniversary of the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I want to urge you to spend the day reflecting on the work of Dr King, Malcolm X, Medgar Evers and others who sacrificed their lives and the safety of their families so that all people could truly be free in America. Now we need to ask ourselves if we a truly living the “Dream” of Dr. King? Black men are still being incarcerated at an alarming rate; we’re at the losing end of the gap when it comes to economics, education, marriage and black on black violence just won’t end. So are we living Dr. King’s dream? If the answer is no, what can we do to change that? What can WE DO to positively turn the tide in the Black Community????
