Crying Shame- Teacher Attacked by Girl!

I barely have the words to talk about how much this story angers me! this is just one more reason why the number of teachers are decreasing. An art teacher was attacked by her student (female) for confiscating her ipod. I mean really people what’s wrong with the children? I haven’t been out of high school that long (class of ’04 stand up!) but it seems like everything has changed for the worse. Why don’t our kids respect adults, teachers? You were going to get that Ipod back little dumb girl, but now you’ve ruined your future! Trying to be gangsta!

Teachers, please keep your head up! I know the article I posted tries to give you tips for controlling a crazy student like this one.

“Rather than confront the child, learn to move the child away from their peers,” said April Lewis, director of safe and supportive schools in Baltimore. Students are often embarrassed in front of their peers and become more confrontational with a teacher because they don’t want to be seen as backing down, Lewis said.

That’s a sweet idea. Me personally, I don’t have a problem with fighting a child. If they run up on you like an adult fight them like one. Get yourself some nun chucks keep them in the desk. If a student tries to get gansta” just say this phrase “I’m prepared to get a new job, are you prepared to get a new face after I beat yo’ a** in front of your little sorry friends?” Just fight them!

On a more serious note, once again this speaks to the low level of discipline and respect in young people. We have to do a better job of teaching out kids to be better! I understand that at that age you’re really trying to assert your independence but you have to make them “future minded.” a kid with goals in mind won’t risk everything to give a teacher a beat down.
There is a gang mentality that is controlling our kids. These little punks did nothing to stop the attack, in fact they cheered her on. WTH? They have no respect for human life! I’m just appalled!
