Lala Says She Stands by Her Man

Permanent Fiancées Carmelo Anthony and Former MTV VJ Lala have released statements declaring their solidarity. Yesterday a number of folks were reporting that Lala refused to pick Carmelo up from jail after his DUI arrest in Colorado and that the cops had to drop him off at home.
Well Lala says that’s just not true. She stands by her man:

“I want to make sure the public understands that I fully support my fiancé, Carmelo Anthony, and stand by him through this ordeal,” Vazquez, a former MTV veejay, says in a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday. “I will always have his back and never refused to pick him up from the police station. In fact, they offered to bring him to me.”

And just to prove a point Carmelo released a statement of his own:

The NBA star reiterated his love for Vazquez in his own statement to PEOPLE: “LaLa continues to be a rock in my life, she’s always been there for me through thick and thin.”

Well isn’t that special?! I just want to know how long you have to be someone’s fiancé before they marry you? Ladies am I crazy? I refuse to be someone’s “fiancé” for more than a year or two, particularly when that person is living with you and you already have kids! It’s not like they’re too broke to have a wedding. You’re doing the work of a wife without the paperwork. At what point do you realize that you don’t have an engagement ring, thats a “shut up” ring?( “here we’re engaged. now shut up about getting married”) Maybe I’m just old fashioned.
