Non-Angry Black Women on TV
June 18, 2008Earlier this week I talked about the “Fools at Fox” and the Claim that their are only angry Black women on TV (Sans the Beloved Oprah of course).
Well Gina at “What About our Daughters” issued a challenge to her readers and I do Love a challenge.
Name as many non-Angry Black women on national television as you can. The woman can be real or a fictional character. You must name the show, the network and the show times

Whoopi Goldberg – she sets them straight on “The View” but she’s rarely angry with anyone
Raven Simone from “That’s So Raven”- Yeah it’s a kid’s show but she’s happy
Gwen Ifill- Journalist on PBS, rarely ever raises her voice in anger
Tyra Banks
Shaun Robinson- Access Hollywood Host
Claire Huxtable- Feisty but not “Angry”
Tisha Campbell – She was only “angry” in Boomerang, for the most part the rest of her roles have been anger-free
Everyone on “A Different World” (except Julisa and later Jada Pinkett’s Character)- Whitley, Kim, Freddie
Florida Evans from Good Times – She was only really “angry” when James died and she held that in until her dish broke.
Jada Pinkett –she seems pretty happy on TV
Elise Neal- as the Wife on the “DL Hughgley show “and on “All of us” she’s the slap happiest sista I’ve ever seen on TV
Joan and Lynn from “Girlfriends” – Maya and Toni were the “angry” ones
The Black Girl from High School Musical- No one’s allowed to be angry in that movie
Tamara Tunie- She’s the Medical Examiner on Law and Order SVU
The Black lady from Without a Trace
Robin Roberts
Robin Quivers (She’s too dumb and well paid to be angry at the misogyny around her)
