Imus, Imus, Imus!

June 23, 2008

Insanity is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result. so by this definition Don Imus is insane

During an on-air conversation Monday about the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones, Imus asked, “What color is he?”

Told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones, who used to be nicknamed Pacman, is “African-American,” Imus responded: “There you go. Now we know.”

Now Imus claims that he was misunderstood. He was saying that Pacman is getting “picked on” because he’s black. Now I try not to judge the intent of someone’s heart, but come on! Shouldn’t he of all people have been more careful with his wording!!?? He’s already gotten a free pass (”nappy headed hoes” was far more offense than this IMO but that’s neither here nor there) on stereotyping he should have been way better at clarifying what he meant on the air and not in a statement. Just plain careless and dumb.

ps- You know Al Sharpton is all over this! he loves the chance to stick it to the “white man”. :-/

  1. What a shame that it doesn’t appear that he has learned his lesson from the previous mishap. I can’t lie that I don’t ask that question very casually when someone tells me a crazy story (what color was he/she?), but when you’re in the public spotlight you definitely have to be more careful.

  2. he really should be walking on eggshells at this point folks were waiting on him to mess up royally.

  3. Now, hold on folks.
There’s room to believe that Imus’s comment was reflecting on disproportionate treatment of black men by the criminal justice system.
Admittedly, Imus left it open to interpretation — a bad thing in his case.
