The last time I read something this disturbing was the Dunbar Village case. In 2003 a young college student was kidnapped off the busy streets of New York, raped repeatedly tortured and beaten to death. She was bright, smart, dependable, conservative, shy and a good student. When she went missing, her mother practically begged NYPD to search, call a press conference, investigate, and look for the daughter. Instead she got this response.

In case you missed it, a peaceful New York protest against the Sean Bell verdict has ended in arrest. Civil rights activist Al Sharpton has been arrested along with Nicole Paultre Bell (Fiancee/wife of Sean Bell) and about 190 other demonstrators were arrested for âcivil disobedience.

Itâs been a day or two since Iâve posted any new news or opinion pieces. Partly because the cocoa colored news has been a little slow, but mainly because Iâve been a little down since the Sean Bell verdict. Iâm not from New York; I donât know Sean Bell, his FiancĂ©e, Nicole Paultre-Bell or anyone associated with the case and I canât say that I was truly shocked or surprised by the verdict. And yet it has burdened my spirit.

The three Cops have been AQUITTED in the Sean Bell Case!!!!
State Supreme Court Judge Arthur Cooperman said the charges could not be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
“Questions of carelessness and incompetence must be left to other forums,” Copperman said.
WOW!!!
I know some folks have already written their thought under my Converstation Starter post. (either post you use is fine with me)
I just want to know who will police the police??
This was not a criminal, or an armed assailant. Just a man and his friends in a car.
If I shot at someone who was unarmed because I “thought” they may do something wrong I’d go to jail.
Contrary to what Mayor Bloomberg believes this is a case about race and class. The cops involved may have been black but that doesn’t mean that they don’t stereotype against their own culture. These Black cops saw, young black males and automatically assumed they were going to do a “drive by.” that assumption isn’t right even if the one doing the stereotyping is of the same ethnicity
I’m just in shock, and worried about safety the black men in my life. whose stereotypes might put them in danger??

Yeah you SHOULD feel “Konvicted”!
Diddy was right, Bitchassness is a disease affecting our community and Akon is the newest victim. This dude has faked his jail time! You know how he supposedly went to prison for 3 whole, horrible years filled with violence and moments that inspired his hit song âLocked up.â Well turns out thatâs a big fat lie!!

actual “sludge”
The NAACP is leading the charge (for a change) against the governmentsâ funding of sewage waste being strewn on the yards of poor, inner-city Baltimore families. This was apparently a research experiment to see if the filtered crap (literally) protects people from lead poisoning. The problem is that the families didnât know what it was. They were told that it was safe and promised food coupons and new fresh lawns. All of this took place in the late 1990âs. ( yeah super late to be hearing about it now)

A 14-year old boy is suing 50 Cent, Tony Yayo ,Universal Music Group (That includes Emimemâs Shady Records, G-Unit and Interscope Records), Violator management and Violator CEO Chris Lighty.
The suit was filed yesterday by the young man and his mother. In March of 2007, the James Rosemond was allegedly walking down the street when Tony Yayo, his employee Lowell Fletcher and two other men assaulted him for wearing a shirt that said âCzar Entertainmentâ (Czar Entertainment currently manages The Game. Former G-unit member; current G-Unit rival.) It also doesnât help that the boyâs father owns the management company.
Young James and his mom are suing because they believe that the record labels encourage rappers to behave violently.
“The members of G-Unit, including defendants Yayo and 50 Cent, encouraged, sanctioned, approved and condoned its members threatening violence, and or engaging in violent acts in furtherance of its business,” the lawsuit said. The attack on Rosemond was intended to “promote and maintain Yayo and 50 Cent’s ‘gangsta’ image,” which was “promoted, marketed and advertised” by record labels.- EUR Web
Yayo, whose real name is Marvin Bernard, pleaded guilty to harassment in February and was sentenced to 10 days of community service. Fletcher pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and was sentenced to nine months in jail. The childâs mother saiys that even though they admitted guilt, no one has bothered to apologize to her son.
WOW! We hit kids over shirts now? It must be hard to feel like you have to question and prove your manhood all of the time. Surely thatâs the underlying reason for 4 grown men assaulting a 13 year-old because you donât like his shirt.

This news made me sooo sad. James Bevel, a former Civil Rights Leader has been charged with incest and unfortunately with his own daughters. Itâs a crazy story but apparently this man had been molesting his child at the age of 6 and continued routinely molesting her for years. The abuse culminated with full on intercourse when the daughter was 15 (this took place in the early 90âs). As adults his daughter and two of her other sisters (he has 14!!!) confronted Bevel because of fears that he was abusing a younger daughter. A taped phone call was his undoing. In a 2005 conversation with the daughter he raped, he defended his actions, partially blaming her for not resisting his advances and shaming her for âfornicatingâ â Read the rest of this entry »
